Okay, so I suck at this blog thing. I have not updated on the baby in a few months. He is growing and doing fine. We have been working away on his room. We found out last week that the doctor is going to take him at 38 weeks. Holy Cow! That is a little over 2 months from now. I have a Pediatric Heartsaver Course tonight and tomorrow we meet with the charge nurse in labor and delivery to work out a plan for when baby boy gets here. Next week we have a 4D ultrasound scheduled. Time is really flying by, I guess we really need to figure out a name for the little guy. All I can do is Thank GOD for each day that I am closer to getting that baby boy in my arms. So I will close for now with a few pictures

So much has happened since my last post. We went for the 2nd ultrasound and everything looked great. The baby was moving its heart rate was 172. We had an OB appointment on Dec. 28th and the test for downs came back neg. The doctor tried to use the Doppler to find the heart rate and was having trouble. I think I about had a heart attack right there on the spot. She pulled in the portable ultrasound and tried to get it that way. She could get the heartbeat, but could not get a rate. She sent us to have a regular ultrasound and THANK GOD everything was fine. Its heart rate was 152 and we got to find out the sex of the baby. IT'S A BOY!. I will post pictures later. We go tomorrow for the anatomy scan. I guess we will find out then if it really is a boy. I am so happy right now. I still am scared out of my mind and worry non-stop about the baby. I guess I can thank infertility for that.....

So a little over a year ago my sister came to me and told me that she would be a surrogate for us. I didn’t really know what to think about it at the time. All I keep thinking was that it was so much to ask of a person. I talked it over with my husband and then I talked it over with my mom and then I talked to my sister some more about it. She told me that she knew that it would cost a lot to do IVF and that we could use her egg and try to do an IUI. So that is the route we took. Over the past year we have done around 6 IUI’s and it finally worked. On October 17 we got a positive test at home. On October 18 blood work came back 378. On October 21 blood work came back 1600. On October 31 we had our 1st ultrasound. Everything looked great. The baby’s heart rate was 115. The doctor said that was normal for 6 weeks, but we would do a repeat ultrasound the next week. So on November 7 we had the repeat ultrasound and the heart rate was 137. Everything seemed to be going as planned, then on November 28 my sister called me and said she was spotting. She called the doctor and they had us come in and done another ultrasound. Everything looked great. The Doctor said that it really was not that uncommon to spot and it could be just some leftover implantation bleeding. Our next appointment was with the Perinatologist yesterday. We had an ultrasound. The heart rate was 169. We saw the baby moving its arms and kicking its legs. Every time I see the baby it just makes my heart melt. I am already so in love. After the ultrasound we had a consultation with the Doctor. He was very confident that everything looked good. He explained that between 11 weeks and 13 weeks they like to do the scan were they check for downs. He said that he didn’t see any sign of it yesterday and was sure he won’t see it next week when he does another ultrasound on the 15th and some blood work. After the appointment I finally let myself go look at cribs. My husband and I went and picked out the baby’s bedroom suite and got lots of good information. I think I am still in shock. After years of wanting and trying to have a baby it looks like it may just work out for us. All I can do is keep praying and thanking God for each day, week and month that passes that gets us closer to bringing this precious baby home.

Infertilty Continued
So, over the years we have discussed several options. We talked about adopting, but that takes lots of money and time. We talked about IVF, but that also takes lots of money and does not promise a bring home baby. We were asked to foster parent/adopt three little girls that belong to a family member. All three girls are special needs. We didn't do it because I had just got promoted at work and caring for three special needs girls all under the age of 4 would take more time that I had. So that brings us up to this fall. In my next post I will tell were we are today.

Infertility
This is my first blog, so bare with me. I am trying to make a safe place for me to express my feelings about infertility. I have PCOS and therefore have trouble getting pregnant. I have gone through fertility treatment without success. However, I did get pregnant once on my own only to be dealt the awful hand of miscarriage. Infertility just sucks. There is no other way to put it. No person should ever have to go through it.
